Mary Comfort Ferrell
Planned Giving Director
As FCNL's Planned Giving Director, Mary Comfort Ferrell accompanies our supporters in thinking about how they might let their lives speak for future generations at FCNL. She provides friends with information about how they can support FCNL through their will, estate, or life income gifts.
After many years in non-profit management and consulting, Mary Comfort took a sabbatical to become a resident student at Pendle Hill and ended up staying for 8 years. She concurrently earned an M.S. in pastoral care and counseling with a concentration in spiritual direction and served as a spiritual nurturer. She sees planned giving as a special form of spiritual nurture.
Mary Comfort is also a community activist. She chaired the Ethics Task Force setting fundraising standards for the Colorado Association of Nonprofit Organizations. For three years she toured as a member of the company of Theater for Transformation, whose mission was to heal the planet of racism. She has worked on political campaigns and as a lobbyist, achieving an 80% success rate with legislation advocated. She is an ordained elder in the Presbyterian Church, U.S.A. and a Leadership Philadelphia Fellow.
